Karis Nafte - Pet Custody Specialist
Karis is a Certified Dog Behaviour Consultant (CDBC, IAABC) and an Internationally Accredited Family Mediator. She has over 25 years experience working with dogs, other household pets, and their human families.
As a Pet Custody specialist, Karis works with all breeds of dogs and other family pets to help divorcing couples determine what is the best outcome for them.

With all her clients, Karis works in a collaborative way so that the dog (or cat, parrot, etc.) does not get caught in a custody fight. Karis believes there should not be a ‘winner’ in a divorce custody situation with dogs; rather the best outcome is that the dog’s long-term needs are in the forefront of the discussion and determine the agreement reached.
A passionate believer in the mediation process, Karis’ experience in animal psychology provides support and resolution around the often confusing, sensitive, and difficult subject of ‘who keeps the dog?’.
